A 39-year-old pastor in Mozambique has died after attempting to fast for 40 days like Jesus Christ.
It was reported by Noticias Online that the pastor, Francisco Barajah, who founded the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in the central province of Manica, was unable to stand, bathe, or walk by the end of his ordeal.
The BBC reports that the Mozambican man of God could only do twenty-five (25) days out of the targeted forty before he passed away.
When he arrived at the health facility, Barajah was diagnosed with acute anemia and organ failure. He is reported to have lost so much weight that he could not even stand up.
BBC also reports that Efforts to rehydrate the pastor with serums and liquid foods proved futile as he passed away a few hours after being admitted to the health facility on Wednesday, February 15th.
The late pastor’s religious flock said that it was common for him to fast but not for such long periods of time.
The brother of the deceased pastor, Marques Manuel Barajah, maintained that his brother passed away owing to low blood pressure.
