Popular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has managed to stir reactions among netizens following his recent statement ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Deyemi Okanlawon while on the show tagged “Mercy’s Menu” hosted by popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson said everyone that is receiving salary or allowance from him must vote for his candidate.
The actor while speaking about politics on the cooking show with Mercy Johnson uttered that he has a PVC (Permanent Voter’s Card) and ready to vote. He added that he has encouraged people most especially those around to do the same.
Speaking on why he is influencing his employees vote, Deyemi discloses that During the interview, the actor disclosed that gone are the days when people are allowed to vote who they want, adding that it has yielded “little or no results”.
He said, ““Everybody that I pay their salary and give allowances will vote exactly the way I’m voting, As long as I give you money, you will vote my choice.”
He added, “The truth of the matter is Nigeria needs to change. We allowed people to vote who they want to vote in the past and we have seen where it got us.”
Unlike some of his colleagues in the movie industry, Deyemi is yet to publicly endorse any presidential candidate ahead of next month’s election, though he is well known for engaging and retweeting Mr Macaroni post on the popular microblogging platform, Twitter.
