Popular Nigerian rapper and singer, Oludemilade Martin Alejo better known as Ycee in a latest on social media blasts his colleague Wizkid following his controversial statement on rap being dead and tagged him as a failed rapper with his full chest.
This reaction from Ycee comes after Grammy award-winner, Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun during an interview with 10 magazine berated Nigerian rappers that include MI Abaga, Ice Prince, Olamide, Vector, Falz, Reminisce among others.
Wizkid said; “Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.
I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s d£ad now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
However, Wizkid statement sparked a lot of reactions among Nigerian rappers as they didn’t welcome the singer’s claim of rap music genre being dead and boring with many of them throwing shade at him.
Wizkid in a latest post goes harder on Nigerian rappers as he refers to them as broke boys and further list the name of real rappers.
Just like his other colleagues, Ycee in a series of post on Twitter slams Wizkid as he stated the “Essence” hitmaker wasn’t making sense.
Ycee who claims to know Wizkid beginnings in the music industry said Wizkid was a failed rapper and was accompanied with a receipt that proved it.
Ycee tweeted; “This thing wey Wiz Dey do no make sense. Rappers work so hard in an industry that doesn’t even favor them. No funding. No support. No nothing. And you wanna make fun of that? Nah G That is not it.”
He added; “Kizz daniels Fvck you challenge- Rappers made that thing pop. Mayorkuns geng challenge Rappers made that thing pop. Anything challenge na rappers Dey do due diligence. Like what the fuck is all this rubbish?
“Failed rappers always have the most to say about the genre sha.”
