Popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha professionally known as Basketmouth has taken to social media where he sarcastically react to the redesigned naira notes.
Recall Intel Region reported that President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the new N200, N500 and N1,000 notes today, November 23rd, 2022 before the federal executive council (FEC) meeting at the state house, in Abuja.
Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (BN), was in attendance during the unveiling ceremony.
While the new notes have been unveiled today, as from January 31, 2023, the old notes will cease to be legal tender. The newly unveiled naira notes will be in circulation from December 15, 2022, according to the CBN.
However, the new naira notes was welcomed with several criticisms as many dragged Godwin Emefiele, the governor of central bank of Nigerian and others of their inability to employ an expert designer in redesigning the new naira notes as many refers to the change in it as just colour grading despite the amount being spent on the new N200, N500 and N1,000notes.
Just like others, Basketmouth via his verified Instagram page mocked the federal government on the new naira notes using his photos as an example.
In the IG post, The stand-up comedian shares his photos then applied filters/colorations to some in order to improve their appearances and leave the other one in its original state.
While throwing shade at the federal government that they didn’t do anything significance in the new naira notes, Basketmouth wrote; “The only constant thing in life is…CHANGE.” See his post below;
