Two soldiers confirmed dead in lagos road Accident

 Two yet-to-be-identified soldiers and a lady have lost their lives after a road accident in Lagos on Friday.

The accident also claimed the life of another lady said to be with them in the car.

The incident which happened around Meiran, inward Obadeyi Road, involved a truck and a car.

The Lagos State Emergency Agency stated that the truck was driving against traffic and made a head-on collision with a car, driven by one of the soldiers.

The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement obtained by City Round, stated that the officers and the lady died on the spot.

“Two male Nigerian Army soldiers and one female citizen lost their lives to the fatal clash. The agency responded to an accident that occurred between a truck and a Mitsubishi saloon car with registration number: RNG396AA.

“Further investigation revealed that the truck was driving the wrong way and made a head-on collision with a car.

“Unfortunately, out of the four occupants of the car, three lost their lives to the fatal clash while the last male adult was treated by LASAMBUS and taken to the hospital,” part of the statement read.

Oke-Osanyintolu also said that the vehicle had been recovered from the road with the agency’s light tow truck and handed over to the Meiran Police Station,” it added.

Meanwhile, another road crash occurred at the Palmgrove Obanikoro axis, along Ikorodu Road.

Although no casualty was recorded, the affected truck blocked an entire lane, including the Bus Rapid Transit lane.

“The quick intervention of the agency’s heavy-duty equipment crane and super metro has been provided to clear the impediment off the busy road,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
